Hello and welcome to our Class 3 page. Our teacher is Miss Quigley and children are supported by Mrs Butcher. Class 3 is a year 3 and year 4 mixed aged class.
In Class 3 our aim is to provide a caring, supportive environment where children are able to progress in their learning, gaining confidence with reading, writing and mathematics.
In lower key stage two children enhance their mathematical knowledge of the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) through a variety of problem-solving activities using different representations to develop mathematical fluency.
Children develop their love of reading across a wide range of genres. This in turn enhances creativity when writing narratives and poetry, as well as building factual knowledge and broadening vocabulary.
We encourage children to become increasingly independent, thoughtful learners who demonstrate resilience when faced with new challenges.
As children move into Key Stage Two they are given optimum opportunities to develop their agility, balance and co-ordination leading towards being introduced to sports such as netball, football, hockey and tag rugby.
Class 3 children particularly enjoy learning and developing new skills in our outstanding forest school and pond area. During these sessions, children enhance their co-operation, creativity and patience as well as deepening their knowledge and understanding of nature and developing fine motor skills when using tools and learning to tie knots.
In year 3 and 4 children are encouraged to read at least four times a week at home and we have a wonderful selection of books at school that children can choose from.
We encourage children to practise their times tables daily and advise children to focus on one per week to build their confidence. We enhance their fluency with recalling their times tables in class.
